RPS/UCL School of Pharmacy New Year lecture on Controlling Cancer in the 2020s

A preview of Professor Mark Emberton’s 2020 RPS/UCL School of Pharmacy New Year lecture on Controlling Cancer in the 2020s and a discussion of new opportunities for preventing, treating and curing cancers

 

To be held on Thursday, 9  January 2020 in the Kohn Centre at the Royal Society,

6-9 Carlton House Terrace, SW1Y 5AG.

The 2020 New Year Lecture will be given by Professor Mark Emberton, Dean of UCL’s Faculty of Medical Sciences. To highlight his messages about further reducing the suffering and death caused by cancers a press conference will be held on the morning of Thursday,  January 9th at the Royal Society. Contributions will also be made by:

  • Professor Charles Swanton,Royal Society Napier Professor in Cancer and thoracic oncologist at UCL and UCLH. Charlie is leading the TRACERx research project on improving lung cancer treatment and co-director of the Cancer Research UK Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence and Chief Clinician, Cancer Research UK
  • Professor David Baldwin,Consultant Respiratory Physician, Nottingham University Hospitals and the University of Nottingham. David is Chair of NHS England’s Clinical Expert Group for Lung Cancer.

This event will also be attended by other leaders in cancer prevention and child and adult

care. A new UCL School of Pharmacy publication, Cancer Policy Update: an Agenda for the

2020s, will be launched at the meeting, which will be chaired by Professor David Taylor.
